‘Gravity’ Review

Gravity is about a medical engineer, played by Sandra Bullock, and an astronaut, played by George Clooney, trying to survive in space after an accident destroys their space shuttle.

The Good Bits

The acting in the film is fantastic, both from George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. They’re the only actors with any significant screen time, as the other actors play minor roles and are only in the film for a short amount of time. Despite that, both George Clooney and Sandra Bullock perform very well in their roles.

The cinematography in this film is quite nice, with different shots showing the sunrise over Earth and the isolation of Sandra Bullocks character.

The Bad Bits

There were some elements of this film that were scientifically inaccurate. For example, there is a scene where George Clooneys character opens the door to the escape pod that Sandra Bullocks character is in while she’s just wearing normal clothes. I would expect that doing this would let out all of the oxygen from the escape pod, which would mean that both the characters wouldn’t be able to breathe, and would therefore not last very long. This scene is obviously a hallucination, but to me it does seem a little silly.

Overall, this is an entertaining and well-shot film with good performances from both of the main actors that is only let down by some scientific inaccuracies.
